Southcentre Mall is a Calgary Shopping Centre

If you are looking for a place to do some shopping and have family fun, Southcentre Mall is a great option. This shopping center in Calgary offers a unique experience for shoppers and families alike. With over 180 stores and services, it is the largest mall in the city and a perfect destination for holiday shopping. The shopping center opened in October 1974 and has since expanded to over 1.1 million square feet. It is owned by Oxford Properties Group and offers various shopping and dining experiences. There are many things to see and do when you visit the mall, from special events to the mall’s library.

Located in the city’s southeast quadrant, it is across from the Anderson C-Train Station. In addition to its impressive list of retailers, Southcentre Mall features two parking levels. The first level is covered, and the second has a parking garage. As you enter the mall, you can find several places to eat, including a food court on the second floor.
Unlike other shopping centers, Southcentre has a variety of activities for kids. There are Santa visits, a reading nook, a children’s play area, and more for the holidays. Plus, there are plenty of opportunities for kids to get involved with their community. One of the more popular events is the Giving Machine, a kiosk where you can donate directly to a charity.
The theatre complex at Southcenter was built in 1970 and had a screen that could hold 70mm films. However, the theatre closed in 1999, and the building was retrofitted into retail space. Another new feature is the Peace of Mind Santa, a private Santa visit designed for families with children with special needs.

You’ll also want to visit the Santa scape, an attraction that lets you experience Christmas in the Southcenter. A variety of holiday sweets can be purchased at Candy Heaven. Guests can also borrow books from the onsite library. The mall has special features, from escalators to its unique circle layout. Southcentre is transformed into a Santa Scape with an enchanted forest during Christmas. On top of that, Santa will make an appearance from November 12 to December 24. Families can book a time to meet him, and a North Pole mailbox will be available for kids to send their wish lists.

Other features include an elevator and a two-level parkade. Among the retailers in the mall are Hudson’s Bay Company, Sporting Life, and H&M. Several other stores are junior tenants. The mall hosts various events throughout the year, from fashion shows to charity fundraisers. Some of these events are free. Local organizations host others. Whether you’re planning a trip to Southcentre or you’re visiting to attend an event, be sure to check out all of the great things to do.

Whether you’re in the market for winter clothing or just looking for a great place to eat, the Southcentre Mall is a great destination.
