Bowmont Park is a large park in Calgary. It is situated on the north bank of the Bow River and contains several areas of interest. Another great feature of Bowmont Park is that it is a great place to take your dog. With fenced off-leash dog areas and paved pathways for dogs, the park is ideal for a day with your furry companion. While the park is relatively easy to navigate, it could be better marked. If you are traveling with your pet, follow the park’s rules and instructions for dogs.
Aside from the many recreational activities at the park, you can also visit the nearby Shouldice Aquatic Centre and Arena. This facility is a good option for families with kids. Located on the north side of the Bow River, Bowmont Park is one of the city’s most important sources of habitat diversity. Several species of warblers travel along the river. Trees along the river are wrapped in wire to protect them from being cut down.

As of now, the Bowmont Park Management Plan Improvement Project is in review. The plan proposes changes to the boundaries of off-leash dog areas and waste disposal stations. Some dog owners are circulating a petition to retain these areas.
